The Switch

So I pull the switch, the switch the switch inside my head.
And I see black, black, green and brown, brown, brown, and blue, yellow, violets, red.
And suddenly the light appears inside my brain.
And I think of my ways I think of my days and I know that I have changed.

It's the colors you have
no need to be sad.
It really ain't that bad.

It's the colors you have
No need to be sad.
You've still got your health.

Cough Syrup

"Cough Syrup"
by Young The Giant

Life's too short to even care at all oh
I'm losing my mind losing my mind losing control
These fishes in the sea they're staring at me oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
A wet world aches for a beat of a drum
Oh

If I could find a way to see this straight
I'd run away
To some fortune that I should have found by now
I'm waiting for this cough syrup to come down, come down

Uhh ch ch ch ch

Life's too short to even care at all oh
I'm coming up now coming up now out of the blue
These zombies in the park they're looking for my heart
Oh oh oh oh
A dark world aches for a splash of the sun oh oh

If I could find a way to see this straight
I'd run away
To some fortune that I should have found by now

And so I run now to the things they said could restore me
Restore life the way it should be
I'm waiting for this cough syrup to come down

Life's too short to even care at all oh
I'm losing my mind losing my mind losing control

If I could find a way to see this straight
I'd run away
To some fortune that I should have found by now

So I run now to the things they said could restore me
Restore life the way it should be
I'm waiting for this cough syrup to come down

One more spoon of cough syrup now

Five Friday Faves-Spring!

Spring is finally here! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! Spring is one of my favorite times of year for all the lovely, exciting things it brings! Sunshine, baby animals, fresh fruit, soccer season and more! Here are five of my favorite spring things. What are some of your spring faves?
Strawberry Iced Tea: I just found the most delicious kind at Tevana -Strawberry Paraiso. Its so yummy!
Stella McCartney's new sunglasses line. They are all so cute. Fun shapes, prints, and colors, and they are all Eco-friendly! It can't get better! (Except they all cost over $200...)
How cute is this little tree filled with birdies. I'd love to put it in my house but that cats would have it destroyed in under 2 mins.
I LOVE lambs. My first stuffed animal was a lamb and my entire life I have wanted sheep as pets. I think this little guys is just as excited for Spring as I am!
I love this quote about Spring. It's such a pleasant reminder.

HAPPY SPRING!!!!

Five Friday Faves-Dr Seuss

Today is Dr. Suess's birthday! So I shall dedicate my Five Friday Faves post to him.
Now, I present to you my five of my favorite Dr Suess quotes:

Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!
-Happy Birthday To You!

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.
-The Lorax

So be sure when you step, Step with care and great tact. And remember that life's A Great Balancing Act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed)
-Oh, The Places You'll Go!

When you think things are bad,
when you feel sour and blue,
when you start to get mad...
you should do what I do!
Just tell yourself, Duckie,
you're really quite lucky!
Some people are much more...
oh, ever so much more...
oh, muchly much-much more
unlucky than you!

― Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?

I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful one-hundred percent!
― Horton Hears a Who!

Bonus Quote:
And the turtles, of course...all the turtles are free, as turtles and, maybe, all creatures should be.
―Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories

Happy Birhday Dr Seuss!!

Each Day

The first three I can help you with, the last one is up to you.....

one ought, each day at least,
to hear a good song,
read a good poem,
see a fine picture,
and, if possible,
speak a few reasonable words.

-Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

SONG:
93 Million Miles -Jason Mraz (This song is beautiful. Trust me.)

Christmas Movies

I totally stole this idea from Pinky, but here are my top 3 Christmas Movies! Tada!

3-The Muppet Christmas Carol
"Mother always taught me: "Never eat singing food.""
I love anything with Kermit, but this version of this over told story is my favorite.
The songs are perfect, the Muppets are adorable and it always makes me laugh and cry.

2-National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
"I don't know what to say, except it's Christmas and we're all in misery."
I have loved this movie since I was little. I have watched it over and over and I always laugh like I am seeing the jokes for the first time. Once when I was little my cousins and I even made up a play featuring scenes from this movie. To me this movie is classic holiday fun.

1-Love Actually
"But you know, the thing about romance is... people only get together right at the very end."
How could I not make this number one? This movie kills me every time. I cry every time I watch it. Its beautiful in so many ways. It has the perfect cast. I make a point of watching it every year around Christmas.

Lennon

John Lennon
October 9, 1940 – December 8, 1980

You don't need anybody to tell you who you are or what you are. You are what you are!

Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.

All we are saying is give peace a chance.

On To The Next

(Jen Candance and I on my last day)

My time at Nordstrom is dunzo. I gave it a really good go but after 6 months I gave my two weeks, and my last day was Saturday. Life is to short to be miserable at your job. I tried and tried and kept thinking it would get better, but it just didn't. There were parts I loved. (The customers, the friendships I made, talking fashion all day...) But unfortunately the negatives outweighed the positives. (The hours, the selfishness of certain co-workers, standing on your feet 8 hours a day...) Anywho I got a new job doing advertising and some office help. The pay is less, but happiness and time are things money can't buy. I've never felt a job defines you as a person. YOU define you as a person. And like I said, Life is to short to be miserable.

So, onto the next! Bigger and better things are still to come!

Or Does It Explode?

This has been one of my favorite poems since high school:

A Dream Deferred

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?

-Langston Hughes

A Star That I Kissed

Here I am I'm sitting alone again I'm staring up at the sky which at this lonely moment is my only friend suddenly as I gaze upon the night I notice the stars began to shake and dance and fall into the darkness They exploded down. I knew what I had to do. I ran up to the top of the hill and took a hold for you The sweetest star that fell and yes I held on to it close to the numbness in my heart And I kissed a star. I wrapped it up inside a golden bow and I ran away just to find you. This was your gift a star that I kissed. The galaxy that lived inside your eyes was in need of a brand new shining light. I wished to the dark sky up above that all I had was to be captured and willingly turned over to you. I know you better now and at this I smile. I simply gave to you the symbol of what you are to me. You are the star that shines and explodes with light and I love and embrace all that I can. Take this blindness away from me and let me bask inside your golden sea. I never ever knew such simple astronomy could ever come to me by ways of the heart.

Poems

My fantastic friend Jeremiah (see his blog here) reminded me that this month is National Poetry Month. While he posts a poem a day, I will try to post a couple a week to help celebrate. *Image via Le Love
