30 in 30

In just 30 short days I will officially kiss my 20's goodbye and move into my 30's
I'm thankful for my 20's. But I am sad to see them go. They were beautiful, heartbreaking, sexy, funny, and sometimes tough but mostly amazing.

30 things I learned in my 20's

1-The boy you think you will die without that left, I promise you will feel that way about another one in 6-12 months
2-Sometimes people will do really bad things and try to blame it on you. It is not your fault.
3-Its okay to be totally in love with someone and have them not love you back. Just don't keep waiting on them to change their mind.
4-you don't need to buy stuff to be happy. You don't need 100 nail polishes, 75 eye shadows, 85 sweaters or 200 pairs of shoes. You just don't. -You are not a Kardashian. (They don't need all that stuff either btw....)
5- Its okay to be single. Respect yourself enough not to settle.
6-Just because you a related to someone doesn't mean you have to love them
7-Its okay to love the wrong person, but then realize an move on.
8-Its always better to pay a professional to wax your eyebrows, highlight your hair and paint your nails.
9-Take pics. Take a lot a pics. You never know when you could lose someone forever, and when they are gone you will wish you took more pics.
10-If you hate your job. QUIT. Life is to short to be miserable.
11- Sometimes you have sex with the wrong person. Sometimes you have sex with the right person. Sometimes its a drunken train wreck, sometimes it amazing. But as long as you wanted to have it at the time, and you were safe about it then its fine.
12-Spending time with the people you care about, doing what you love, is the most important thing.  If you found out you were going to die in two weeks would you work 24/7? Money would be worthless. While money is great, time is worth way more then money.
13-If you care about someone tell them. Tell them now. NOW.
14-Don't be jealous of other people. Its stupid and it gets you no where.  If someone has something you want, try and let them inspire you to do better, don't hate them for having something you want.
15-You don't need to wear ridiculously high heels to be  fashionable or sexy. Some of the most fashionable people I know hardly ever wear heels. And I've been hit on by some of the cutest boys, when wearing flats.
16-Not all sports are bad. Soccer & Speed skating are in fact awesome. (Don't worry I still hate The Jazz and football.)
17-Jason Mraz is one of the most talented singer songwriters ever. Thanks Brian for forcing me to listen to him...
18-Everyone at some point in their life she kiss a boy from England.
19-You are never to old to make ridiculous music videos with your friends.
20-You need to get a degree. In something. Anything . But just do it. The sooner the better.
21-Not all kids are horrible. Yes some are monsters. But some will adore you. And to be adored feels wonderful. (No, I still don't want kids.)
22- You will have amazing friends that are you're everything. Sometimes, something will happen and they will become almost nothing. It's okay  accept and cherish what you had.
23-Sometimes you need to call in sick, stay in Pjs all day cuddle with kittys, drink tea, and watch James Franco movies or The Hills or Friends all day. This remedy really can make things all better.
24-Everyone should have a NYE kiss with someone they adore.
25-People that don't like animals have issues and can't be trusted.
26-Your clothes should fit. FIT. Not to small not to big. Just fit.
27-When people move, is when you find out who your real friends are.
28-Get Triple A. Its saved me more than once. Worth every penny.
29-Sometimes an animal can save you life.
30-Always, always, always, stand up for what you believe in. ALWAYS. The few times I haven't I always regret it more then the times I did. Even if it makes a situation uncountable, always be true to you.

Mom Update

Well Hello. Not going to lie, its been a rough week. My mom got out of the hospital on Thurs. She is still very sick, and can't really leave the house, drive or work but we are working very hard to get here back on the mend. She has a long road ahead of her, but if she follows her doctors instructions hopefully we can get her back to feeling better again.
Thank you everyone who called, texted, brought us food, sent flowers, messages, prayers or positive thoughts. It really means more then you will every know.
THANK YOU

Mom

Dear Friends,
Recently my mom has taken very sick. I checked her into the hospital this past Monday and they have realized she has a leaky valve. This means she is in heart failure. She is awake and talking but she feels horrible and it looks like she will be in the hospital for quite sometime. They are running tests and eventually there will be a surgery. Please send your positive healthy thoughts, wishes and love her way.
Thanks.

So Long Summer...

It's the first day of fall.
Every since I was a little girl, summer has always been my favorite time of year. I love getting in a car so hot you can't touch anything. I love wearing tank tops, sandals, and sunglasses everyday. I love playing in the sprinklers and watching soccer games and not freezing. I love driving at night with the windows down. I hate when Summer ends. I always feel like there are things I didn't get to do, outfits I forgot to wear , or events that I missed out on.

This year has been especially bad. I missed dinners with friends, outdoor concerts, birthday parties, farmers markets, bridal showers, family dinners and much more. I worried Rowan would forget who I was. I couldn't even go to school. I was so tired all summer I barely remember it. Especially July. What a waste. And on top of it my feet ache so constantly that it made it hard to go on summer walks.

Thus I've decided I won't lose my fall too. I want to go to Halloween parties, carve pumpkins, see friends who come to town and drink hot chocolate. I want to have time to do my homework. I want to watch the leaves change and be awake enough to enjoy it. I want to go on fall walks and crunch the fallen leaves with my feet.

So, I'm making some changes.

When I think of the happiest time of my life, summer/fall 2009 is always the first time to come to mind. Not because I was making loads of dough, this was in fact one of the brokest times of my life, but because I had time. I had time to spend with all my friends. Time to keep my car and room clean. Time to sleep, read books, watch movies with my cats, and go to dinner with my mom. Time to sit outside and feel the sun on my face, hear the leaves crunch or play in the snow. The older I get the more I realize how important it is to choose how you spend your time wisely. Money is great. I would love to have more of it, but I also would also like to look back on my life and think I choose to spend my time doing things I love and being with the people I care about. Not crying everyday then spending 8 hours in the dark corner of a department store, only seeing the sun when I went to eat lunch. A friend of mine who's life I always envied used to say: "Work to live, don't live to work". He's right. Life is short. If I die tomorrow, it will be people at my funeral, not shoes, coats, or fancy cars. When I die I want people to say I had time for them when they needed me, I could pick them up from the airport, and they loved having dinner with me. I want them to say, that the memories we made were amazing. Not that I had a "great" job that consumed all my time and that they never saw me. I want to feel happy again.
I'm pretty scared and not sure how I'll do it, but, like I said, I'm making some changes...stay tuned and wish me luck.

A Love Letter

“People cut themselves off from their ties of the old life when they come to Los Angeles. They are looking for a place where they can be free, where they can do things they couldn't do anywhere else.” -T. Bradley

My love affair has be renewed... with Los Angeles. I honestly think I forgot how much I love that place. People often scoff when I speak my love for LA, but I don't care. Someday LA and I will be together again and we will live happily ever after. So don't you try and stop us!
Now, my extended love letter to Los Angeles:

Hi LA,
I miss you already.
I miss your beaches. I miss the ocean.

I miss your amazing shopping. I miss your diversity.
I love you palm trees so tall and lovely. We have pine trees in Utah. I hate pine trees. They make me sneeze and get a headache and a rash.

I love you Hollywood. I love you random shops. I love the chance to put my hands where great actors of the past once did.

I warms my heart that you LA get to host the Oscars every year! Nobody deserves it more.
Disneyland I could give or take LA, but I do like posing for pics with people in giant furry costumes and you did give me that so, thanks.

Windy cold, slightly miserable Santa Monica beach. You absolutely hold a special place in my heart now, for more then one reason. A few of the reasons are:

Indie Spirit Awards with my amazing Pinky friend. (MISS YOU!!!)

Parking Lot twitter talks with my E! news Sundance boyfriend the perfectly lovely Ben Lyons. (yes I'm putting two pics of him one post after another, he deserves it he is just that cute. )
Seeing this guy. (PS I win at life. WIN)

Pedicures at the weirdest Asian nail salon ever with these two fabulous people.

I miss the Pinkberry. You are everywhere in Los Angeles and are my absolutely now favorite fro yo joint. Sorry Red Mango. Pink Berry kicks your ass. I miss Urth cafe too.

I love your Electric Vehicle Charging stations at the malls. I love you blue skies! I love that when I eat at the PF Changs in Newport, I can see the ocean while I eat.

Newport, you are a dirty beach, but I heart ya kid. I miss you sea birds.

I'm even growing accustomed to your ghetto trailer park Long Beach airport.
I miss you Los Angeles.

I'll be back soon!

XOXO

Forever Yours,

Heidi

California Bound!

Well Kids, tomorrow I'm of to Sunny California! (and by sunny I mean 60 degrees and rainy 3 out of the 4 days we are there. wah wah)
My mom and I are finally taking advantage of the trip to Disneyland she won awhile back, and will be spending the next 4 days in So Cal. Sadly we booked our flight back when the Oscars are on, so that's a major fail. But, we are flying Jet Blue so maybe I'll be able to catch some of it due to them having TVs. Win. And i get to see my fabulous Pinky!
In the next few days I'll also be seeing:

Beaches and the ocean! Yay!! I love my mountains but I'm very excited to see the ocean again!

Disneyland!
Hollywood! I loves me some Hollywood!

Palm Trees. My favorite tree.

And hopefully this handsome fellow. Wish me luck!

Swoon.

Car. Book. Chocolate. Cat.

People keep telling me I need to blog (coughcourtneycough) but I can't think of anything exciting to write about! So hear are some things I'm up to right now. Boring or otherwise....

Driving my mom around.
On Tuesday it snowed a lot. Then a lady lost control of her car, my mom hit her and this is the result:

(This pic really doesn't do the damage justice) It goes all down the passenger side and her other headlight is busted too.
Mom will be okay, but my nerves may not be because my mom criticises my driving so much.
Cross your fingers the insurance company gets the rental car gets worked out soon.

Reading a new book
I recently picked up my husband James Franco's new book: Palo Alto Stories
I had heard good reviews and got a good coupon to get it cheap, so I picked it up.
It's a book of short stories about teenagers growing up in the suburbs. And when I say teenagers I mean dis functional teenagers that do things like drunk drive hit a woman with their car then leave her to die. This is not a book to read before bed time. But it is a good book.

Drinking Mexican hot chocolate with whip cream everyday.

I used to go to Nordstrom and have them make it for me, but at $4 a serving, that adds up but quick. Then I found they sell it in a bag for $10! Is this still expensive for hot chocolate? Yes. But considering I can make like 28 cups, its a much better deal. Unfortunately when I make it there is no cinnamon stick or rustic setting involved.

Taking care of a sick kitty.
Diego has taken ill. This has not been cheap and it a constant stress in my everyday life. I hate that we can't communicate! I'm so worried about my little guy! Send him your positive thoughts and well wishes please!

Thanks for your time all. Have a pleasant Thursday.

PS- I think the below picture proves James Franco is not gay. I don't know one gay man that would leave the house for a public event in tennis shoes that dirty. I know plenty of straight boys that would. Not soccer players. They are weird about having clean shoes. But other straight guys.

Rosebud...

I bought myself this new L.A.M.B. bag this week.

I find when heart broken, one of the fastest, safest, ways to help it mend is to buy a new purse. I have acquired two fabulous heart broken fixer purses thanks to one particular boy. This last heart break was a doozy, so I felt I deserved something pretty.
I adore this bag. I think its beautiful and it reminds me of my Nana. (My dear Grandma Grover, who lately, I miss terribly.) We share a middle name of Marinda.

*Side note, for the last 28 years of my life I have been led to believe by my entire family, that my middle name is also the name of a type of rose. I just googled it to get a picture to put up. It is in fact a MIRANDA rose not MARINDA. My friends, I have been Shawshanked. By my own family.

Daddy Dearest

Today I get to work and happen to see 3 of the woman in my department peaking out our front window. "Whats the guy doing?" "That's strange." "Is he homeless?" "How weird!" "Is he just sitting there smoking?" "Should we call someone?" "He was there yesterday too."
I went to look.
No worries. Its just my dad.

Danny Boy

So apparently Danny Trejo is a huge RSL fan. You might remember he from such films as Con Air and Spy Kids. He came to the RSL watch party, and seeing as its been awhile since I've got a celeb photo op I went for it. He was very nice.

I feel totally uncomfortable as to why Mr Trejo and my mom look so snuggley. She needs to back her boobs up off him.
