Casino Night!

Soccer Unites Utah had a great fundraiser this weekend to help raise money for Marcia Williams. It was casino night and it was a blast! My girls and I got all dressed up and headed down the Salt Palace where the place was all decked out. We were best at Blackjack. We even made about $100 dollars. We did however to awful at craps. The night including dinner, a live auction, and all sorts of casino fun. Lots of prizes where givin away too. We traded in all our raffle tics and tried to win some of the geat prizes. We even convinced some of our dudes to toss some tics in for us too. Alas, Hiba and I won nothing. But Mayra did win a few fabulous prizes. She even won a special Twilight movie package at the live auction for $600. After the event we headed over to a suite at the Marriott where we ate, drank and were all around merry. The event was so fun, I only hope they do it next year too!

First Game At The RT/ Good Bye Jessica

Yep when you shorten our new stadiums name, it becomes RT. Which was fitting seeing how damn cold it was Thurs night. Even though the name/parking sucks its actually a really nice stadium.

Plus we got new shirts! They are only funny if you have seen the Javi & Kyle show, if you have not seen it, they the shirts wont amuse you. Sorry.

And in other news, Jess moved to New Jersey. (that's why we are phasing her out in this photo...) This is a pic from her Goodbye party 2 Fridays ago. We had a swell time at Happy Sumo, then some drama, then some more fun at Port 'O Call.

MISS YOU JESS!!

New Phone!

I went out and got a new phone last night the LG "Shine". You might Know it as the the phone from the commerical with Brody Jenner & Lauren Conrad.

Yes this is the whole reason why I wanted this phone. Well that and and fact its just so shiny. Now, let me tell you i am aware that this is not the actual phone that Lauren & Brody use. Every Hills watcher knows that Lauren has a Blackberry & Brody has an IPhone. But if its good enough for them to sell it, Its good enough for me to buy. This may or may not be why I buy Smart Water too.
After the old phone took a swim into my iced tea and seized to function. I was forced to get a new phone. And let me tell you, Its lovely.

Wait a minute sister...

So Hiba & I headed out to the Gavin Degraw/Charlotte Sometimes concert last Saturday, and we had ourselves quite the time. I did how every not enjoy the 19 year old morman couple who choose to grind dance next to me the entire concert. The dude had very unmoisturised elbows and I did not enjoy when they touched me. His elbows were grossly rough. There were also quite a few girls who think Gavin Degraw is the sexiest thing ever, and I did not enjoy them trying to push me out of my second row position just so they could grasp onto and not let go of his hand.

We met the band Charlotte Sometimes and the lead singer was super nice. With talked about "The Hills" with her for like 10 mins. (because its the best show ever...)
Please not how the dude behind me looks like Uncle Jesse from Full House. Awesome.
Then we met Gavin he was nice and well, a bit weird. My convo with him went like this:
(Please note he has a very deep south accent...)
ME-"Hi, could we talk a picture with you?"
GD-"Sure, whats your name?"
ME-"Heidi"
GD "I'm Gavin, nice to meet you."
ME-"Nice to meet you"(while thinking, yeah, no shit you're Gavin)
GD-"Hold me close" (yes you read that right)
ME-Nervous laugh
Then Gavin Degraw grabbed mine and Hiba's ass.
GD-"Thank you"
ME-"Thanks so much drive safely."
GD-"Thank you Baby!"

So whats Deep South for awkward?

Thanks,
Heidi
Ps Please lose the stupid headband too.

She Bangs.

I have received quite a few texts messages the past few days from people thinking I actually plan on wearing my hair as it is photographed in the last post. And to you all I say, Seriously? You know I have better taste then that. Here are more pics of the new do.

In other news, the last Real game at Rice Eccles stadium was on Saturday, and I must admit, it I was a little sad. While I am excited for the new stadium. I'll miss RES. And since I don't watch football, I'll probably never be back... Please note my parents in the background. Its amazing I turned out as normal as I did.

Soccer Unites

Yesterday I spent the day volunteering at a charity golf event for Soccer Unites. It was freezing in the morning, and it got kind of boring being by yourself all day, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. Once the sun came out and the golfers started coming. I even got to talk to my one and only fave basketball player of all time Thurl Bailey. When he got traded from the Jazz I quit watching basketball. Yes, I told him that. He was very nice, and freakishly tall. Riding in a golf cart is a terrifying experience. I took some pics documenting the day with Julia's camera, and here they are:

I have absolutly no idea why...

A Story.

Monday night Hibs, Jenny and I were headed down the road when we saw this:

It was attached to the hood of the Grandma car. Well, taking sympathy on the poor creature we decided we should save its certain death.
We pulled over, Jenny hopped out, found herself a wood chip and proceeded to try and
poke it off. When this didn't work, Hiba then got out and attempted to scoop it up. It flew in the air and landed promptly on Jenny's ass. It was like a magnet. This caused Jenny to run screaming up and down the street. Priceless.

Corner of your heart.

Is it that bad to come in second?

I am not someone who thinks there is a lid for every pot. I don't think everyone has a soul mate, true love, or that they will end up with someone. Happily ever after endings aren't real. Very often people end up alone. People say all the time not to settle. But what if this person you are "settling for", is it. What if they are all you get. If they make you happy is that enough? If they make you their number one, does there have to be some cosmic true love connection?

How bad is being second? It might depend on who you ask. The person just picked for Vice President of the country might have very different views on this then the person who took silver in the Olympics or the back up keeper who spends his days on the bench, or the understudy who has to sit back a watch someone else become the star.

People often say second isn't so bad. "Hey, were still ranked second in the west!" or "I'd be happy to be the Vice President!" or "A silver Olympic medal that's great! You're second best in the world!" But can anyone name one person who came in second behind Michael Phelps in the Olympics?

Some seconds do finally at long last end up becoming number one.
Theodore Roosevelt and Harry S Truman started out as Vice President. Anjelina Jolie and Camilla Parker-Bowles got bumped up big time. Sutton Foster started out as an understudy in Thoroughly Modern Millie, but ended up winning the Tony.

But what about when it comes to matters of the heart? When it comes to being second in someones life, suddenly the table turns.
Magazines, friends, eharmony ads, etc. always say "Find a person who is willing to make you their number one! Their everything!" Well what if there isn't someone who wants to make you number one? Is being runner up really so bad in this case? Are you just settling?

Should you just take what you can get and run with it? Should you just learn to be OK with the fact you aren't the immediate go to person but second in line? Is something better then nothing? And what happens to the people who come in third?

Corner of Your Heart

There's a corner of your heart for me.
There's a corner of your heart just for me.
I will pack my bags just to stay in the corner of your heart.
Just to stay in the corner of your heart.

There is room beneath your bed for me.
There is room beneath your bed just for me.
I will leave this town just to sleep underneath your bed.
Just to sleep underneath your bed.

There's one minute of your day.
There's one minute of your day.
I will leave this man just to occupy one minute of your day.
Just to occupy one minute of your day.

Just to sleep underneath your bed.

Just to stay in the corner of you heart.

Standing by a strength of my own

What do you do when your only reason you felt excited to get out of bed has gone away?

All I did this past weekend was sleep. I tried to do other things, I even left the house a few times, but it all felt like a moot point.

I wish there was something to be excited for, but I can't find a thing.
I remember when I used to wake up so ready to conquer the world. I had dreams and I was going to achieve them. Everything was exciting and new. Everything was an inspiration. It was all planned out it was all going to work. But it didn't. Now I just feel stuck with no way to get out. I'm so tired of having no money. I work so hard and still nothing. I feel completely misunderstood by nearly everyone around me. I'm talking and talking but no one hears what I'm trying to say.

The events I used to love doing feel stressful and hard to deal with. Going to the theatre makes me feel nothing but remorse and jealously for not doing what I wanted to do with my life. And now movies and starting to feel the same way. Nearly every time I go to a movie I wish I was in it not watching it. And my family is no help. I can't even shout an insult at a soccer game without my mother telling me how I'm going to ruin my voice and not be able to sing on Broadway. I am 100% aware that I am never going to sing on Broadway. I was never good enough, and I never will be. I've accepted this, why is this so hard for my family to accept?

What makes it worse, is the person I felt most inspired and understood by, the person who made me feel like I could achieve anything, is the person who made me realize how completely alone I am in this world. If I've learned anything this past week, its that everyone can, and probably will let you down. Even those closest to you. There are so many people that are fair weather friends, they love to be there when thing are going well, but if you are upset or sad they have better things to do. You have to look out for number 1. You are the only person you can count on.

Its hard trying to determine who your real friends are. I am very good at letting people in to soon. I always end up hurt. There are many friends who think they have the answer of what you should do. Its easy for them to tell you because they are not in your place. Its always easier to fix someone elses problems before your own. Oddly enough, the people who I felt were most understanding to me this past week. Where people who I don't see everyday. In fact I don't think I've seen either of them in over a year, but both sent me messages of comfort, concern, and complete support without telling me how I should change my life. Or the key to fixing all my problems. But with just a quick email and text I knew they are both there for me 100%
And that meant the world to me.

From staying too long in one place
But every time I try to leave
I find I keep on stalling

Feel like a big old stone
Standing by a strength of my own
But every time the morning breaks
I know
I’m closer to falling

I’m all out of love
All out of faith
I would give everything
Just for a taste
But everything’s here
All out of place
Losing my memory
Saving my face
Saving my face

I’m listening to what you say
Even though I look the other way
You could never understand
The feeling of what I’m needing

I’m all out of love
All out of faith
I would give everything
Just for a taste
But everything’s here
All out of place
Losing my memory
Saving my face
Saving my face

Leave it all to me
I will do the right thing
Maybe I’ll be everything I need
Leave it all to me
I will do the right thing
Maybe I’ll be everything I need
Leave it all to me
I will do the right thing

I would give everything
Just for a taste
But everything’s here
All out of place
Losing my memory

Heart Broken

How did I come to this?
How did I slip and fall?
How did I throw half a lifetime away
Without any thought at all?

This should have been my time
It's over, it never began
I closed my eyes to so much for so long
and I no longer can

I try to blame it on fortune
Some kind of shift in a star
But I know the truth and it haunts me
it's flown just a little too far
I know the truth and it mocks me
I know the truth and it shocks me
It's flown just a little too far.

Why do I want him still?
Why when there's nothing there?
How to go on with the rest of my life
To pretend I don't care
This should have been my time
It's over-It never began
I closed my eyes to so much for so long
and I no longer can

I try to blame it on fortune
Some kind of twist in my fate
But I know the truth and it haunts me
I learned it a little too late

Oh I know the truth and it mocks me
I know the truth and it shocks me
I learned it a little too late
Too late

Update on last post:

So I subscribe to these horoscope email things. Usually I check them each morning. But I forgot today. I just checked it, and here is what it said:

Dear Heidi,
Here is your Work Horoscope
for Wednesday, August 27:

It's taking forever for you to get what you want. The only thing that could possibly make you moodier about it than you already are is sound advice. That's right: It's time to stick to a budget.

Are ya kidding me with this?

Retail Therapy

OK. I'm going nuts. I'm really wanna buy things. Lots of things. Do I need these things? Nope. But I want them. I'm going crazy. I'm broke. I want so badly to go to LA this November, but right now I really want to buy things.

I want this sweater:

And this sweater:

And these pants:

And this poster:

Or this one:

And I really want some boots I saw at a store yesterday. Also, I really would like to watch season 1 of Gossip Girl, because I've never seen it. Everyone claims I'd love it. I probably would. But you can't rent it anywhere. I guess I'll miss season 2as well. Because I don't want to start half way in. :( And I don't have/want netflix. I don't understand how I am making $1.50 more then I was at my old job, yet somehow I have less money.
I feel nervous and uncomfortable, and a trip to the mall would ease my spirts.
Someone should take my credit card away ASAP. Not that it won't get declined even if I did try it. :(

Don't be blue. Wear Blue. Its a lucky color.

So many people are blue these days, I made a list so they can see how lucky they are. :) Here is my list:

20 Reasons to not hate your life:

1- You have food. It may just be Top Raman some days, but you have it.

2-You don't have Cancer, AIDS, Malaria, etc.

3-You do not live in a country where war is destroying your home. Think of Georgia, or Darfur, or The Ivory Coast or....the list goes on and on...

4-You can leave your house in a tank top and shorts not get stoned. (Even though it may be tacky...)

5-You have clean water to drink, and it comes directly into your home too.

6-You have a warm place to sleep at night... and its in a bed!

7-You have a family/friends who love you even if they are a pain in the
ass sometimes.

8-You got to go to school even though you are a girl. And you can keep going if you want!

9-You can stand on the corner and shout "I hate Bush" all day long, and no one will shoot you. They might flip you off, but you probably won't get shot. You are even allowed to vote for the next person in charge of your country!

10-You were not torn from your home at 2 years old just so in 10 years your country could up its medal count in the Olympics.

11-You will not have to bury your spouse of 8 years because he/she just died of a painful illness. (This just happened to someone I know. Be thankful for your health and the health of those you love!)

12 You are not trapped in your house at the end of summer because you fell off a rope swing and mangled your foot so you can't walk. (my mom is going on 3 weeks now...)

13-You are not spending your days at Primary Children's Hospital waiting for your child to die because they were in an accident.

14-Your husband doesn't smack you around. And if he does, there are places you can go to get help. Unlike in some countries where this is allowed and accepted.

15- You haven't lost any arms/legs in a war. And you can walk/talk.(Talk to Derek about this he works at the VA hospital.)

16 You can see, hear, touch, taste, and smell.

17- You are not plagued by demons in your house or mental illness.

18-You are not incapable of love because you were born an orphan in Russia that no one touched for the first 5 years of your life.

19-You are not forced to be a slave. Your job may suck, but you still chose to work there, and you get paid to do it!

20-You have shoes. Good shoes. Probably more then one pair. Probably a really uncomfy completely impractical pair. A lot of people don't have shoes at all.

Its a simple as something that nobody knows...

So about the Jack Johnson concert. I love Jack he is great, green, ad his songs are delish. But I have to say it, I used to think the E center was the worst concert venue ever, but I was wrong Usana amphitheater is. I could not see ANYTHING for most of the concert. And hands down the most annoying people ever attend Jack Johnson. So here is any open letter to the fans:

Dear Utah Jack Johnson fans,
I feel there are a few things we need to go over.
First-choosing what tee-shirt/smoothie flavor/bathroom stall are not among the hardest choice you will be faced to make in this lifetime so make it quickly. You have been standing in line for 15 mins waiting for a smoothie. There are two flavors. Wildberry and Strawberry Banana. Both titles are self explanatory. So make your choice before you get to the front. There is no need to hum and ha once its your turn. Also you see that giant sign that says CASH ONLY. That means they don't take credit cards. So have your money ready when you reach the front. Same thing goes for Tee-Shirts You have just watched the 50 people in front of you hold up a small to there chest will fit in it so you should have your style/size choice made by the time you reach the front. This is not hard.

Second-the beer thing. If you can not make from the beer stand back up your blanket without dumping your beer all over me, that means you've had enough. We aren't at a bar. Its time for water.

Third-frat boys: no one wants to see you take off your shirt and let your beer belly hang out while sing/dance around. You are not sexy. You look like a fool. Despite what your girlfriend says. Unless your upper body resembles that of Michael Phelps, you face of Brody Jenner and your dancing skills that of Gene Kelly, put a shirt on, sit down and shut the hell up. And really there is no reason to shout "DUDE" at your buddies every 20 seconds either.

Forth- CLEAN UP YOUR TRASH. Who raised you to act like that. There are 80 trash/recycling bins. Pick up your crap. You are at a damn Jack Johnson concert for hells sake. The is an environmental sustainability fair happening just North of the stage. Hello? Do you get it?

Fifth-Exciting a parking lot is not hard. We are all stuck here together. There is no need to Honk, cut people off, shout at people etc. This will not make cars get out the lot sooner. They will not magically disappear if you honk 40 times. I want to go to bed just as much as you do.

Love always,
Heidi

PS Dear Usauna Your lawn seating and parking lot blows. Take a cue from Deer Valley. They got their shit together.

But a special shout out has o go to Trixi for hooking me and Hibs up with passes to stand down front for the last few songs. I have got to hear my most favorite song from up front. Thanks again!

Birthdays all around!

So I am very happy to announce, that my beautiful, fun smart friend Whitney finally turned 21 today! Hooray no more sneaking her into bars! I miss her like crazy and can't wait to see her in November!

Also a few other people in my life are having some birthdays this week that I want to give a special shout out to:

Clyde who turns 26 on Aug 21!! Hooray. Finally I won't feel so much older. ha ha I only wish I had money for a plane ticket then I could help you celebrate. ;)

Jeff who turns 32 on Aug 21!! Jeff is also due to be a daddy any day now and I am so excited to meet his miniature!! He also had is 100th MLS career goal last night! So a big congrats for that! Jeff was also in town a few weeks ago and it was great catching up with him. I miss him and his lovely wife/baby mama Jocelyn so much. :( Friends like these to don't grow on trees.

In news of other special people who came to visit one of my best friends for life Derek came to town, and we had the opportunity to share a great dinner I only wish he had been here longer. we didn't even have time to do a special revival of "My boobs, his hips".

Well, I'm off to the Jack Johnson concert tomorrow, so here is hoping I don't get a contact high...

Kanye!!

I went to the Kanye West show the other night. It was awesome 5000. Rihanna was great. And Kayne really is as good as he claims he is.
The only downside was that fact it started like um 2 hours late,
and the fact that the band N.E.R.D. makes me want to gouge my eardrums out. And of course they snag my most hated song. The one where the dude yells "Shes Sexy!" I have hated this song since I first saw the video on MTV like 6 years ago. When they sang it they bought every tacky ass girl in the audience up on stage to grind them. And some girl in a lemon yellow mini dress even lifted up Pharell's shirt. Yuck. The concert lasted so long, that I even fell asleep in Kanye's finale.
On a extra excited note I get to see my stach love Zac Effron making on with Vanessa Hudgens by an elevator for a good 3 mins. I wish she would stop being his beard so I could have my turn.

Rouge

Remember that time I got my hair done and it got totally messed up and I looked like Rouge from X-men? No good. Here is the proof:

*Note: I have had this problem fixed.

Why we win at life.

David Beckham round two circa 2008!!!

Story to follow later....

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

Thats what he said.

If I cute straight boy were to say to you:

"Your dress is so cute! Its so refreshing to see a girl wearing color!"

Would you maybe think this sounded a little gay?

Just wondering.

Sunshine!

It is so sunny and beautiful outside! I can't hardly believe it. It makes me so happy. (Yes I am aware its supposed to drop to 50 degrees again tomorrow. I'm just pretending I never heard that...) And while its been a rough couple weeks, I definitely feel things are looking up. Saturday my boys not only won their game, but they schooled DC. It was great fun. And Saturday night, I had a blast with all sorts of fun people including my best girls Hiba & Jay. And although we didn't go to bed till like 9 in the morning, & we got into a bit of trouble;) we had ourselves an awesome night. And I am so thankful for all my pals. The ones I see everyday, the ones I haven't seen in months, and all the new ones I'm making.

Update.

If you want a much better post about the concert go to Hiba's page. She even has video. (Link to the left.)

Thank you and have a lovely day.
PS Could everyone please wish for no snow Sat. I already have to watch RSL lose, and I would rather not do it in the snow. Thansk for your time and wishes.

And yes, I am aware I look a little spazzy in the Ingrid pic.

Awesome Like a Possum.

Ok Team Check out the AWESOME shirt I found.
Also please note fabulous singer Ingrid Mickelson in the photo too.
She is great, her concert was great and she was just as super nice this time as she was when we met her at Sundance. And she remembered us. :)
Hooray.

Spring!

Well its so warm & lovely outside today that I feel it may be safe to finally say that Spring has finally sprung! And just in time for the first RSL reserve game of the year. (tonight!) I also need to express my extreme excitement for the Hills premiere tonight as well. (French drama!)
New job is going great. Everyone I work with is super, and I am loving the clothes. Well, I hope everyone is well & Happy & that you all had a beautiful Easter! I myself went and fed some goats stale crackers. I don't really know how this connects to Jesus rising up again, but I feel its way more eastery then certain friends who receive designer jeans in their Easter basket. Although I do believe if Jesus had to pick a designer jean fave, he would go with True Religion. Wow that joke was very bad.
Anywho, remember friends & family get a discount on clothes from my new work. So please stop by.

New job

If you want to see what it looks like go to layersclothing.com So far I have been working there a week, and I like it very much!
